POP UP HEADLIGHT WASHERS, OR LACK OFF !

Just realised that I'm going to lose the headlight washers with the new Sport Styling Kit front bumper spoiler assembly on the IS200. Can't see why as the kit is factory fitted. Anyone know the reason why or if they can be refitted as I'm thinking of contacting Lexus GB, can't get any answer from the dealer.

Yes - I noticed this when I was debating which kit to go for. I asked My dealer (Leicester) and they reckon as its TTE (It hink thats what he said) who make the kit, they don't make the relevant cut outs etc to allow for the washers.

Thats why I went for the TRD in the end...

Only problem with that is, if the car comes from the factory with the kit fitted and no washers. You would have to go out and buy them!

Is it worth it for something you don't use very often?

i think if you pushed lexus on this one you would get it with washers,as TTE do supply with cutouts aswell........the original car would come with factory fitted bumper, then the new TTE bumper would be fitted at arrival in the UK,this is where all components for the washer would be removed(if they are).

so i would stress you want washers fitted as you know that the bumper can be supplied with the cut outs.

more info can be got from

This is the reply I received from Lexus Aberdeen today :

Lexus GB have confirmed that the Headlight Washers are not available with the Sport Kit. They can be Retro fitted but we have found that as the Front Bumper has a special treatment process the achohol in the screenwash was reacting with the holes that were drilled so we do not recommend fitting these.

Have you ever heard a bigger load of b*****ks !

I even sent the picture of the front spoiler to the dealer, taken from the Lexus GB website it clearly shows the kit with the washers fitted !!!

So tell them you will only use water, not screen wash! That has to be the worst manufacturer excuse every. I bet you Toyota europe would like to here that.

"Excuse me, your paint is *****!"

if you wanted you could hit them with the "sale of goods act"

"false advertiseing"

if there showing the car with them....it needs supplying(unless of course there is a disclaimer)

speak to TTE see what the y say

the reply for lexus aberdeen is the biggest load of toss i have ever read!!!! reacting with the holes that have been drilled???? i am assuming the bumper is plastic but if its fibreglass that would then suggest that they didnt reprotect the edges! i think its just an excuse as it might be a hastle for them to drill the holes!, the washers just bolt on to the fog light attachments so not much changes there.

The plot thickens !

Thanks again for the replies lads.I've emailed Lexus Aberdeen and asked for the contact details of the person at Lexus who gave this response which is utter bull, basically calling their bluff . As yet they haven't responded !!!!!! I've told them to fit the washers as that's the way they're shown on the kit and i'm not paying for any retro fit as they are standard equipment which has been removed.

I'll let you know how things turn out as this boy ain't backing down.

Saga finally resolved by Lexus GB. Spoke to a guy today called Robert Frost who has said that due to the fact the the pictures in the Website show the kit with washers that they will drill holes, respray spoiler and fit the washers after all. Said they will remove / replace the photos on the website to save any further confusion.

Apparently it is correct about drilling the holes in the bumper and not respraying them. If the holes are untreated the paint starts to flake due to the alcohol in the screen wash.

Anyway matter resolved by good old Lexus GB and another satisfied customer.

By the way I mentioned Team Lexus Owners Club a number of times during the conversation.........maybe that swayed it, power in numbers.

Since TTE supply the bumper with or without cut outs for the washers, seems to me TGB just can't be arsed to buy one with them.

And someone said the paint is ******* - well i think we all know that ... but pretty much all car makers now seem to use crap 'ultra chip' water based paint that falls off at the sight of a teaspoon full of pigeon poo .... though i did hear a rumour BMW (or was it Merc) went back to traditional paint for the mo - fed up with respraying peoples cars under warranty.

Who was it that said durability + environmental friendliness are mutually exclusive :)

Hey Sticher, How much have the side skirts cost you in total? Will you have to tell your insurance company? I only ask because you should declare any non-factory fitted modifications to your insurers. Let me know coz I am thinking of getting some

Andy,

Side Skirts cost £285 inc vat plus another £235 for fitting and spraying. All arranged by Lexus Aberdeen through their recommended Body Shop.

With regards to insurance. Basically ignorance is bliss. I won't tell them about the side skirts but as the main kit is factory fitted I'm hoping this covers me.

But Andy if you work for Norwich Union then of course I'll declaring them.

How long till your car is delivered. Mine arrived at the dealer today, pick up next Monday.

Cheers,

Mark.
