Is-f Insurance

Recommended Posts

Hello all, first post on here.

Just picked up my IS-F and loving it. I transferred my previous insurance over to the IS-F but this runs out next month. Does anyone know of specialist insurers or companies who tend to be more reasonable than others?

Cheers!

I've found there seems to be no rule to insurance and prices on cars. So I always do a full search every year. I've (like most people I would guess) find one year a company is the most expensive and next the cheapest.

However I have found that given the performance, it has been very cheap compared to other cars I've owned, which does always point to a cars 'nick-ability' as the key driver in quotes, and not the performance e.g. ISF cheaper than Maserati, and Maserati cheaper than BMW M3!?

Cheers

Chris

It is well worth looking absolutely everywhere for the best quote which is unlikely to come from comparison sites. For me it turned out to be from Direct Line where I had been insured for several years - and although it has risen each year, still is. My renewal at the end of February was £499 to include unlimited mileage, business use and £625 excess. Protected no claims discount, legal protection & guaranteed hire car brings the total to £640. In my case, none of the specialist insurers could get anywhere near this, and most were at least double this figure and demanded huge excesses.

If you intend to keep the ISF for a while, it is worth looking into Lexus Prepaid Service Plans and separate, but quite cheap insurance for tyre damage.

Another small point: The ISF ride loses a lot of its initial harshness after a bit of use. Enjoy!

I looked into insurance while waiting for my ISF to be built 2 years ago. At that time, none of the reputable insurance companies would consider insurance without a tracking device fitted, so I had one fitted predelivery. Maybe things have now changed re trackers.

Thanks for the responses chaps, and apologies for not adding my thanks earlier (sign-in problems prevented that!), am ringing around to find the best quote.

Ollie. I'd love a quote from Sky, if only I could get through without having to hold for ever and a day! :winky:

The best quote I managed was over £700 with tracker fitted, age 40+ with perfect history, parked offroad and in one of the cheepest insurance areas in the country.

Well, I challenge anyone to beat this, and I had to re-check and confirm the insurance policy details before insuring... I switched from an Alpina B3 Biturbo to the 2010 ISF with Tracker, and I've just renewed fully comp. with all the whistles and bells for £285.00!!! I'm 45, clean license with perfect history, off-road parking and living in Derby, and this includes class 1 business use.

I believe it's because I got the quote during a marketing campaign when Aviva (Norwich Union) were budgeting loss against market share. Same quote on-line a week later was £688.00. Looks like I got a bargain, but not looking forward to the renewal!

Good luck with your quotes - Mark.

...and I thought I'd done well at £431.00! All bells and whistles, inc. PNC, and no tracker required. However, I did state it would be kept in a locked garage overnight, so looks as if I'll have to evict the IS200 Sport

I am 38, no points, tracker fitted and kept car on driveway. Directline insurance fully comp with £150 excess costs me £329 per year. But i am going to be selling the beloved Cadoxston Slate ISF (with sunroof) after a very happy 18,000 miles without any incident (along with the most excellent number plate LEX 15F ) in a few weeks (any takers?)
