Loose Exhaust Heat Shield

Recommended Posts

tighten the bolt might help

where is the bolt,or is there more than one bolt?

obviously my sarcasm was too subtle......firstly have you even bothered to open the bonnet and have a look yourself???

I guess not because if you had then you would quite clearly see that the engine bay heat shields are held on with 3 bolts.

Before you ask they are 10mm and you need to turn them to the left, or do you want someone to come round and do that for you also?

Affraid i cant help you on the one underneath the car, but im sure if you took it to a local Kwik fit or such they should be able to sort it out for you for a tenner or something...

If you dont want to go that route, your best bet would be to get the car up on either axle stands or ramps and investigate! Once you find the offending part it hsouldnt be to hard to fix with a spanner :)

I cannot remember how thick the heat shield material is on the IS200, and I'm too lazy to go in the garage and have a look, but the IS250 material for the shields is thin, cracks easily and makes a horrible rattle. It may be that it's cracked rather than a loose fixing, in which case it will need replacing.
