Oil Consumption

I have an 06 IS 250 and have owned it for approx 6 months , have done just under 5000 miles and used 1 litre of oil , is this about right ?

Mine does not need topping up between annual services and I average 10K a year. Engine has done 45K miles from new.

had this out with Lexus customer some time ago and had a standard manufacture reply - the IS 250 can burn (use ) up to a litre of oil per 600 miles ,I was shocked as like most of the cars I have owned do not need topping up between services .learnt to live with it over thr last few years but always worry that the engine will not last .

I'd be very worried if mine was burning a litre of oil every 600 miles. Leaks aren't acceptable so the only way it can go is out the exhaust pipe, so indicates there's excess clearances either in the valve guides or piston oil control rings/compression rings. Not good at all.
