Flappy Paddles

Currently have got 10 plate IS250 Auto with Sat Nav loan car at the moment, while my IS250 gets a new bonnet fitted under warranty, and it does not have any flappy paddles on the steering wheel.

When did they remove this as standard and make them optional?

I really miss them, as I use them all the time on my current car?

I've got them on my '10' plate and it wasn't an optional extra.

correct me if im wrong, but i did read somewhere that they were removed from standard spec, on the facelift models, im not 100% on that though, but it rings a bell.

I had a quick browse at some photos of used cars on the Lexus website, and found one (an SE-I, I think) that didn't have them. Maybe they are standard only on the upper models.

Lexus seem to be shooting themselves in the foot with the effective de-specing (flappy paddles, Sat-Nav with no ML or Traffic, etc) that they have done.

I've got a '56 IS250SE Auto MM and I can't see myself upgrading it for a newer one, beacase to get all the same toys, it seems you have to get an SE-L for loadsamoney...

I got my 59-reg IS250 SE-I in November 2009 - I believe this was one of the first "new specs" without paddles as standard - and with Bluetooth integrated as standard.

I thought this was an updated specification - I'd waited a few months as prior to that, the spec was with paddles but without Bluetooth, and I wanted the newer combo.

I drove a '59 plate 250 Auto F-sport the other day and that definitely had flappy paddles and they shift up and down without needing to go into Sport mode as required on my 2008 250 SE Auto.

Yes - my car still has the manual nudge change, which I've used once in seven months when an iced-over road made the auto almost impossible to drive (fun though).

I did think the paddles were huge - that put me off. Each to their own of course - my Alfa back in 2001 had buttons, very nice...

And, as well as no-paddles and integrated Bluetooth, I also think my HDD USB was part of the new spec?

So is it just F-Sports that have the paddles now or do SE-Ls still have it too?

*EDIT* Looking at the used car site it looks like the SE-Ls still have them too.
