Hi guys

i have been looking at a ls430 2003 approved car at lexus, and on seeing underneath there seemed to be a bit of corrosion, mainly on the rear metalwork, ie the cross struts and the like , my question is this, are we talking normal for this type of car or should i be walking away.

any advise would be appreciated.

Hi the car has probably spent its life near the coast ( so its normal) My mates 98 ls400 came from central England & is mint underneath. I would keep looking unless its a real bargain.

It is normal for the suspension/steering/and connected parts to show rust, but the parts will outlast all of us. However it isnt normal for the chassis/subframe to show rust. I think you are looking at the roll bars and other stuff where it isnt a problem. In fact, if you find one without rust you need to ask why all the components have been changed!
