My IS has suddenly got a noisey release bearing on the clutch, sounds really dry,is there anyway to oil it? Sounds silly buy on a few cars they have had inspection plates on the bell housing and it would have been possible to get a drop of wd40 or something on it.

everything else works fine clutch gears etc just seams a bit drastic to pull the box out to replace it for the noise

thanks

if the sound goes away when u just rest ur foot on the clutch pedal (no more than 1 inch travel), its the arm that pushes the bearing rattling on the shaft. Solved the same problem on mine today by injecting copper slip (other high temp greace will do) onto the arm / shaft. Access was gained by removning the seal from where the arm enters the bell housing (slave cylinder side) and used a syringe and a 10cm peice of drinks straw..... Pumped the pedal a few times to spread out........

Hope this helps
