hi after years of owning toyota mr2's i thought i would step up in class and buy myself a lexus is200. i have to admit i am a little let down at the minute and i am hoping someone could give me a clue as to what's wrong if anything!

anyway back to the problem, when the car is cold in 1st gear and in reverse only the car has a violent judder when setting off. the problem only eases if i rev it to about 2500rpm. is this normal or does it need a new clutch put in it. it's driving me mad.

any help would be appreciated

No it's not normal, sounds like your pressure plate or flywheel is worn...

You will need a new clutch kit, get it checked from your local mechanic to make sure..

I uese have toyota avensis its quite same on first gear when setting off whatever cold or hot, and my lexus is bit like that also on first gear no reverse.

My IS gently thumps sometimes when putting it in rev...but I do have a sloping driveway.
