Wheel Refurb Or New Wheels?

Recommended Posts

Ive recently bought a Lexus IS200 Sport with the 11 Spoke alloys. Its a 54 reg and the wheels have visable scuff marks. The paint is also bubbling up in some places as well.

Is there any point getting them refurbed or would it be better idea to just buy a new set of alloys? Ive got a quote from "TheWheelSpecialist" in manchester and they quoted £269 to refurb them.

Im just wondering, will the refurb wheels be back in the same condition after a year or so with the paint bubbling up?

Any suggestions?? Cheers dan

Hi I think the main consideration is whether you are satisfied with the wheel design you have .A refurb should be cheaper than new wheels if you are happy with the design .A professionally refinished wheel will last a lot longer than the original 'cheap' original finish which is a known weak point on Lexus. You should be able to have them done at £50 a corner approx; where in the country are you ? I'm sure someone on here will be able to recommend a place they have used .

Hi Dan,

I had mine done at city powder coater in brum, took about 9 days - finished in sparkle silver, look amazing - £20 a wheel they charge £10 to take of and re-fit tyres though.

I was going to say the same, they're the cheapest I know, might be worth driving down if you're not to far from B'ham. Average price is about £40 per wheel, I think £269 is far too much.

I live in manchester so i just searched on google for places around here. I was warned to be quite cautious of some companies that charge cheaper prices that dont do a good job of the refurb.

I Suppose like you say its a case of getting reccommendations from different people. The wheel specialist are a nation wide company, who they say the refub will be done in one day?

Thanks alot for the replies really appreciate it dan.

I've just had a price of £40 per wheel from National alloys in Widnes, Cheshire. Never used them myself but did use Proclean many years ago and they did a smashing job. They will do them in a day my appointment but there is a couple of weeks wait as they are incredibly busy which I always find to be a good indicator of a companys work. Will be booking in my IS in when I get payed.
