Used Is220 With High Mileage

Recommended Posts

I'm currently looking to buy a Lexus IS220D SE, it's a 56 (2006) and has 85k on the clock. It has a full Lexus service History

- Is this mileage too high?

- Should I stay away?

- If I do go for it what should I look for?

- What would be a reasonable price to pay?

Cheers for your advice

- Is this mileage too high?

Not these days, as you say it's got a full lexus history, nothing to worry about

- If I do go for it what should I look for?

All the recalls that that model would have had - check the vehicle no. on Lexus website

Check aircon's nice and icy

TBH, everything should just work if you're buying approved pre-owned

- What would be a reasonable price to pay?

If approved pre-owned from Lexus 14-15

If an indie dealer, 12-14

Private sale, around the 12.5 mark

Hi, I purchased a 2006 IS220D SE last year with 68,000 on the clock. I was a little worried about the mileage but the car came with full service history and a years warranty from the dealer. Over a further 15,000 miles the car has performed flawlessly and I am very pleased with the purchase.

Out of interest though, how do you check the history of your vehicle on the Lexus website? Have looked at the owners area and cannot find anywhere to enter a vehicle number.

I bought my 06 IS220D with 88,000 miles on the clock and FSH. Twelve months later - still running fine.

How do you mean..."the gears are too high"...?

They mean the gear ratio, its a known "bug" that people report with the 220D. You cant really get the car into 6th until ~80mph and the ratios is also noticeable round town where you need to get used to the gearing and how to drive it.

I read all the reports on this and subsequently chose to go with the 220D sport. Nearly all of the extras of the SE-L but with much improved gearing and a few other nice sport extras (improved traction control, 18's, much improved gear ratios). It is a 2006, with multimedia, cadaxton slate and 58500 on clock. I paid 10,995 plus got the 18's refurbed as corroded. I have to admit I am very happy. Got mine from a private dealer so did the usual checks (service history from lexus, called lexus to check recalls etc), after 6 months paid the extra for Lexus Extended Warranty - worth every penny IMO and saved me some money!

Early ones had problems...2006/7 220d's - I'd leave alone!!

I have been very happy with mine, I have had the dreaded EGR valve go which is a common (known) fault but lexus sorted it within a day. I would advise an extended warranty from Lexus to be on the safe side.

I did my research on here first and although I would have preferred the 250, I got the spec I wanted (MM + Sport) at the right price. The gearing on the non-sport wasnt to my liking.
