Hi and welcome to LOC. There is only 1 choice of marque - Lexus! However, my advice to anyone buying a car is to buy only Japanese or German. The Passat would be fine. Its not a Lexus tho'.

Hello from a fellow newbie!

Nowt wrong with a Passat! I've driven one a fair few times and been a passenger in one even more and they are very comfortable cars. Suspension is a lot more forgiving (more so than my IS250) but interior quality doesn't come anywhere close to the Lexus. Its all about what you really want. If it's ultimate comfort then a Passat SE or SEL spec would be good, but if you want more quality then go for a Lexus.

Go and have a test drive in both, you'll soon know then :)
