IS220d has the MAF sensor.

anyway, ~1200rpm on idle vs ~800rpm is normal. Engine goes automatically to 1200 on colder days until it warms up. Why? I don't know, perhaps to save the world :)

I have noticed and been informed by the Toyota garage, that the idle speed increases to 1200rpm when the Climate control is switched on(Auto). This must be an idle compensator, but is too high in my book. The hundred cars or so that I have driven have never done this. Maybe 800rpm normal then 950rpm when auxilleries are on but 1200rpm? Too high in my book.

in my IS you do not need to have aircon in auto mode, you can let only fan on (even switch AC off), and in cold days it idles on 1200. In summer it does not do it.

But I agree that 1200rpm idle is highly untypical for diesel engines.
