Trc + Emc Light Blinking On Is200!

I have a 1999 mod IS200 Sport w/automatic transmission... Same symptons as several other is200 post... running rough for a while then running ok, feeling lack of power and using a lot of fuel, engine running hot (but not showing on temperature gauge inside car).. and of course engine management lights and TRC flashing. Getting sick and tired of this problem. P0300, P0302 and P0305 are the diagnostic codes. (Multiple misfire, and misfiring on syl 2 and 5). Have changed all 6 spark plugs, and shifted the six coil packs around, reset the codes, but the engine light and trc comes back after a short while. The codes are the same P0300, P0302 and P0305 so the "problem" doesn't change sylinders, meaning that changing plugs and swapping coilpacks doesn't help. Have also cleaned the throtle body as suggested in some othe post. Wondering what to check next, too bad Lexus diagnostic isn't a little better at pinpointing the problem... of this problem, grateful for any advice..

If your car has the TTE compressor then could be a pre-cat breaking up.

These are the catalytic converters in the manifold/downpipe part of the exhaust.

Became a common enough problem that TTE started swapping that section for one without the pre-cats.

If pre-cat is breaking up you may find bits of it going down exhaust towards the main cat and blocking it up.

If this is the case then you'll need to remove the exhaust and empty all the bits out.

Good luck

Thanks for the added info TG. I did not know that pre-cat breakups was common on cars that was moded with TTE superchargers. The supercharger is now removed from the car. Don't know if a broken pre-cat could cause P0300 errors, thought maybe that would give different diagnostic codes, bur thin I will try to take of the exhaust an see if the precats/cat looks ok or not.

Just an update... no luck so far :excl: After changing sparkplugs, swapping ingnition coils, moving fuel injectors the P0300, P0302 and P0305 is still haunting the car. Beginning to think of wiringharness, but have not seen any broken/loose cables. Wondering if there is an official checklist for diagnostic of this failure (EMC steady light + TRC blinking). The car is also remarkable slow when driving int the morning in cold weather until the engine get's warmed up. But of course this may be a separate issue with the car.

Well those codes are

P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected

P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected

So coil packs is first place to start
