hi mines exactly the same always hot this is this normal i think that it was only the early cars operated by switch

If your car is pre 2001 then the heated mirrors are on all the time. You'll be able to tell as the rear window heater switch only has a picture of the rear window on it, whereas later cars have the rear window and door mirror on it as it controlled both.

Didn't know about that either, and yes it does appear to be a waste of energy considering how hot they get... <_<

Yeah it's really silly that it's on all the time, no idea how they thought that was a good idea!

I'm not sure if it's a case of just swapping the switch, as I have no idea if the wiring is different. However I can't imagine it being that hard to fit a switch somewhere or even somehow wire it into the existing window switch if you're good with electrics.

Maybe find the fuse or relay and disconnect is a temporary solution until the next winter.

I removed the fuse in the passsenger side fuse box:

There are two part n# for the relay heated mirror (not for fuse), -->01 90987-02012 and 02--> 90987-02020

Maybe changing the relay then it would works
