Air Intakes?

hi everyone just wana know what air intakes there are out there. ive seen a few like powertec pipercross, look the same, prolex one and a few eBay jobbys, tbh i dont like the look of them i like the stock air box, do they make much diffrence, sound, performance, if not i dont see the point in them and the prices are stupid.

are there any other options?

Like you I just got my IS. What are you after? Power or sound. You know you won't get power from intake alone, and fitting a badly designed conical item will yield heat soak without some form of shield.

I saw on here someone who had a short ram version right behind the passenger side headlight.

Personally I MIGHT fit a K&N panel filter and maybe do an air feed from the bumper ducted to it. Not sure yet...i'm in no rush.

you could always go custom its not too hard just some stainless and your sorted really and i know what you mean about the standard cover thing it is good i was thinking of possibly cutting a circles just enough for a short ram and then keep the rest. also to answer you initial question they only make a true difference when they are rolling roaded when the car can be programmed that it has a better air flow same with an exhaust or mani the true gain isnt until a dyno

yeah i think ill just get a new panel filter i dont really wana get rid of the stock box.

yeah ive made custom ones befor for my celica, but the stock box was horrible, lexus is nice, also most air intakes i see for the is200 go over the exhaust side, wont that just warm the air and defeat the object?

What diameter tubing would you use for a custom job?

Also, what other connections would you need to think about, sensors etc...?

id probably use 2.5" and yeah need to make a hole with a gromet or some other sort of design to hold the sensor and then just a case of find a place for a bracket to hold it still

just use the gromet from the box, im guna leave the stock box in and just get a toms filter.

yeah thats what i meant youd need to fabricate a hole for it though in the pipe yeah good idea let us know how it goes ive never used an aftermarket panel filter before
