hi guys

As title suggests, newbie here on the lookout for a GS300. Sold my car last month and want something bigger than i can give the VIP treatment to. Happy with a mk1 or mk2, so if anyone knows any for sale local, please let me know! Going to be keeping an eye on the classifieds, as well as Autotrader, eBay, Pistonheads.... who thought buying one would be so hard!

Welcome to LOC.

Mk1's seem to be going for an absolute steal at the moment, so I can't imagine you should have much trouble with them. Mk2's have held their price a little better, but if you are planning to VIP it then the standard models (not the Sport) go for pretty low money. Good luck with the search, and keep us updated with the progress, for buying and VIP'ing.

I suspect its out of my budget, thanks all the same, though.

Ive seen a mk1 GS local. Nothing suggests its for sale, but im going to put a note under the window asking if they would consider selling it as ive fallen in love with mk1s! Would deffo consider a mk2 as they do seem more common, but i would have less money to throw at it.

Does anyone know how easy it is to replace the plastic that runs along the bottom of the mk2 front doors? One I looked at had the plastic seperating from the door for about 6 inches. it didnt look like you could glue it back on, is it a replaceable part?

They bolt to the bottom of the door. Separation would suggest broken bolt(s) or corrosion forcing them apart or corroding the bolt hole. Or of course it could've got dented (the door stayed dented and the plastic trim popped back out).

What budget are you working too? You should easily get a mk1 for £500.

That's useful, thanks for that, mate. I have a budget of £2500, but that includes at least the first mod (coilovers) and whatever it takes to get one mechanically shipshape!

Andy

You should be able to get a set of coilovers for between £500-£800 new, second hand a bit cheaper. True VIP would be air suspension, which would probably run around £1100'ish. Plenty of budget left for some other bits and bobs at those prices. Good luck.

Where could I get air ride for that sort of money? Did want air ride but thought it was £2k plus which I couldn't really justify on a £1k car!

Andy

Last time I saw any it was on eBay, although to be honest,I haven't noticed if there were any on there recently.

Well, ive now got myself the car! Just need wheels and airbags now!! Looking around, I 'think' me and a good friend have settled for making our own set of airbags. Noone local seems to have much knowledge. this wont be a quick solution, but should look great when finished! going to take a couple of months for it all to come together.
