Something has finally worn out on the LS after 17 years, the cat joints to rear pipes had failed and although barely noticable it developed a slight V8 roar, even though this sounded quite nice I thought I'd better get it sorted before the mating surfaces became damaged.

I purchased the two compression gaskets from Lexus Derby as well as the front cat gaskets and then got my local tyre and exhaust place to fit them as I didn't fancy trying to remove the bolts or crawling under the car.

Only took them an hour and they replaced the bolts as well.

I didn't need the front gaskets so now have spares.

Now back to normal, nice and quiet.

I suppose that's something I've got to look forward to, what's your mileage?

It's around 75,000 now.

The flanges were fine but the nuts had rusted away so new nuts/bolts and gaskets did the job.

£9.00 for the gaskets the labour as a favour!

A bargain, and only 75K

With my calculations (taking into account an average anual mileage of 5k) you should be able to keep yours on the raod for at least another 40 years!! :hehe:
