Remote Key Fob Function

Hi

I have a 1997 Mk 3 Lexus but my problem is with the remote key fob and could relate to any Lexus or even any vehicle. For some time the remote key fob operated lock & unlock but opened the boot intermittently which suddenly stopped completely. I decided that a new Battery was required and after insertion the boot opened fine. However whilst the car unlocked it would not now lock using the fob. The only way I could lock the car using the fob was to press unlock but not open any doors and the vehicle would lock itself after 30 seconds which is what it is programmed to do. Has anyone out there experienced this unusual problem and how did you eventually solve it.

Do you have a spare fob to see if this does the same? It sounds like the lock button is not working in the fob.
