Ect/pwr Button Not Working? Gs300 Sport

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

i'm the proud owner of a GS300 Sport (mk 2, T reg) reading the manual last night apparently when i select the ECT/PWR button, a symbol should appear on the dash but it doesnt.

any common problems to look? to be honest, when i switch it on i dont notice a change in the performance, but i'm not sure if it would be that noticeable anyway

Anyone fellow sport owners help?

PS. this is my second lexus, used to have a IS200 SE, but chopped it in and bought this luxury bus instead - cant believe how nice they are to drive!

Yeah, the lamp should come on just above the steering column cowl . If you press it on the back edge of the button to switch on "snow" mode, does the snow mode lamp light up?

Tigerfish is correct, but what happen is the gearbox holds on to gears for longer and its a bit quicker to kickdown, but it should show on the dash.

Sorry, I should add thats when its in power mode, in snow mode it starts in 2nd gear.

Hi Tigerfish, yeah the snow mode works perfectly, the snow light comes on the dash and the driving style changes completely

so, could it just be the light in the dash, or could the switch be faulty? not having owned a GS300 sport before i really dont know how different the driving will be in pwr mode??

I must admit, I don't find the difference as noticeable on my Mk2 as it was on my mk1.

thanks for that, how noticeable is it though on your Mk2, so for arguments sake with the pwr switched on and you floor it in first, what revs does the box change at?

or is it just a snapier gear change, because i dont really know the difference, placebo effect maybe?! lol

If you stuff the accelerator into the carpet, the revs will go to the red line in both modes. It is more with partial (say half throttle) movements that will "kick down" sooner in sport mode.

Holy thread revival guys!

Googling bought me here so I apologise if there's a later thread but. ..

I had to replace my BODY ECU NO.1 due to the heater panel and blowers not working. That now works and I've reprogrammed the key, but now my PWR/ECT/SNOW and VSC OFF switches no longer work.

Can anyone tell me how to rectify this?
