Cam Belt Or Cam Chain ?

hi peps, I am new to both lexus and I am not car savvy. However I did read a thread on here (post with lots of photos) regarding a cam belt that was horribly close to causing loads of damage/ cost.

My question is .. I have been unable to establish if my cam belt had been changed the car has done more that 97 ,000 miles and the service records have said no they did not change it. However in my final call the bloke said " I did not have a belt but a chain ?

It is -petrol -automatic -first reg june 2003. Now I am confused Naturally It goes without saying it is a IS200 SE

IS200 has a timing belt NOT chain.

As you have no proof the timing belt ever been changed, I'd get the timing belt (with the idler and tensioner) changed ASAP.

As said above, I'd get the belt changed as soon as possible for peace of mind.

The bloke has obviously confused your first generation IS with the second generation IS that does have a chain on all variants.
