But i cannot see how you remove the old ball joint and replace it with the new one.

Has anyone done this before so i know what to do

Any help greatfully accepted

You cannot do the balljoint yourself. It would have to be pressed in place by a specialist in bushing/bearing/balljoint pressing.

To cut a long story short it is cheaper to replace the complete wishbone. That's generally the done thing.

course you can replace the top ball joint on its own.......£30 for the pair remove the circlip that holds the balljoint in hit it hard with a hammer out pops the joint then hit the new one in and put the circlip back on job done.....

Omri, are you telling me I paid for a wishbone when a balljoint was all that was needed?? It failed MOT a few years ago for 'excessive play' and I left it with a garage and I remember it was about £200 for the wishbone which needed to be fitted, I was told that the balljoint was pressed and couldn't be removed without specialist help which would render that kind of repair unfeasable as it would be about the cost of just replacing the entire wishbone.

worst case you need to use a press to remove the joint but once the circlip is removed they come out with very little force
