I got my 220d last June 2010. I saw smoke from my car in winter 2010 and also a lot of posts in these forums on smoking Lexi. however, these posts and my cars smoke disappeared in summer.

could it just have been low temperature causing the smoke.

Normally the other way round, as cold air is denser and results in cleaner burning. I have just mentioned in the mpg thread that we may have just seen the swapover to winter diesel, which may cause this issue.
