Fault After Brake Cylinder Recall - Is 250

Good evening,

My Lexus IS 250 went in for it 6 year/60000 mile service today (car has only done 38K). Over the weekend the handbrake light was flashing. As it was due a service today I thought I would let the dealer look at it - I suspected either low brake fluid or a bulb.

Had a call from the dealer this afternoon (expecting to be told the car is ready). However, as a result of the brake seal recall work carried out a year ago to the brake master cylinder seal, I have been told that the seal has failed and as a result fluid has now contaminated the brake booster. This recall work was carried out by another Lexus dealer a year ago.

The service rep has raised a call to Lexus GB advising them of the problem and has expressed to them that it could be due to poor fitting (bodge) by the other Lexus dealer or the new seal (post recall) has failed.

Either way the seal and booster is going to need changing before the car can be released and the dealer has asked me to be prepared for a £1500.00 cost if Lexus GB do not entertain this. To be honest I can't really see how Lexus GB could wriggle out of this (saftey, reputation etc), but it has got me a little anxious and I thought I would post in case anyone had any tips/advice if they hold me to ransom to pay. On the flip side if they put it down to their negligence, should I kick up a stink for the inconvenience or be thankful that they have replaced the part.

Thanks in anticipation..

P.S. Only 4000 miles done since the recall work.
