Mate, it's the EU regulations for you. Go have a look at other makes websites and you will find much the same. I dont think the car is badly made, but the days of just flinging it at a garage for an oil and filter change as i used to with all my old smokey joe's are gone unless you have very deep pockets. So ive read a lot on here and the toyota forum about the common problems and have learned enough to handle the carbon build up myself.
