can anybody answer this quickie question . i have the old radio/cd/tape (slot at bottom) it has been getting the dreaded "err3" lexus chester said "no problem we will replace" now will i get the player with the slot at the top (like the new ones) or will i get a refurbed one (like i have already) also if i get the newer type will it just plug and play or do they have to do any wiring mod`s . cheers in advance !

Had mine replaced last month (ERR3). I got like for like.

Sounds different, not as much bass. The original was a bit extreme though.

Had to wait 5 or 6 weeks from order til’ it arrived. They said 4 weeks at first.

My wife had her one changed 6 months ago and she got the same type back. Seems there is a bit more of a shortage of these units now, we only had to wait a few days back then.

I don't think the latest ones use the same connectors so there would be more work involved. The one you get should be modified to fix the problem so there shouldn't be anymore ERR3.

I asked at Lexus Birmingham (soon to become Saab Birmingham, terrible shame obviously) when my old IS got the dreaded ERR3 issue.

They told me that the wiring looms were incompatible between the units, so I'd get like for like.

I wouldn't complain though, the older stereo setup sounds SO much better than the new one.

you will get the same model type back, they modify the trays that the discs sit on to stop the discs slipping and jamming
