Jac You have mk 1? I think so, have you got the user manual that came with the car because it tells you all about the radio code in it.

The code may never have been set, you can tell when you power up the radio it displays a note if set, unfortunately Im upstairs in my night clothes so cant look the books in the car. But if you havnt got the book let me know and Ill print it word for word. Mine was never set.

If you look at some of my previous I had a problem with my radio in relation to RDS and ended up buying a second hand head unit, then my problem was fixed by unpluging my head which appeared to reset the thing. But I dont think that this would reset a code.

Let me know

There is a small gizmo I have seen used - plugs into cig lighter and keeps power on even though you have removed car Battery etc....

Also - your local dealer should be able to reset the radio if need be - so long as you can prove you are the rightful owner - but there are other guys on the site that should know more about that.

For what it's worth if a code is used, dealers seems to favour using the last three digits of the chassis number.

I have a handbook for our 97 Sport, and can always dig out information on the relevant section if you get stuck.
