Buyers Guide - Rx300 2001

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone here can offer any advice with regards buying an RX300 around year 200/2001.

My dads after one, for a short commute and towing the caravan. If anyone has any ideas what to look out for and some other pointers I would really appreciate it. Also, when does the cam belt need replacing on these? if its anything like my IS a lot were over due to Lexus recommending changing it earlier that originally stated.

Thanks in advance folks :)

I traded in my 1997 LS400 for a 2001 RX300 last november. I ensured that it was not more than a two owner car with a full lexus history. the car was in excellent condition, I fitted new Michelin tyres all round to see it through the winter snow(which never came!) I have just had it converted to LPG by the same firm who did my LS. Change the oil to fully synthetic and thats it. I expect to get around 22 to the gallon on LPG, though conventional wisdom is that the 350 (2005 0n) is more economical. Of course the 350 will cost more. My 300 was £3500 and I think 350's were twice the price. So look around, 'The truth is out there!'
