Mk1 Gs300 Click But No Start?

Just had a sudden problem.

Car was driving fine yesterday. Today I went to start the car only for it to not start.

If you've tried to start it while the steering wheel is moving into position, then that is exactly what its like. I get a click which might be solenoid. I thought it could be the Battery being low on charge so its been recharged throughout the day but still, all I get when I turn the key is a loudish 'click' coming from what appears to driverside wing,

Any help appreciated guys please!

Simplest and cheapest first check, Battery connections - are they shiny clean and tight?

If Battery and connections are ok them sounds like the common fault with the starter/solenoid. There is a link in my signature block below to a tutorial I did for overhauling the starter which may help. Getting the starter off the mk1 is pretty tight for space, but doable, and helped if you have plenty of extension bars for your socket set.

At least it's not an LS400!
