Hi Martin.

I also live where it is very hilly and have had no problems with driving in snow with Lexie than I have with any other car I have ever owned, including 4 wheel drives. If you drive without any sympathy to the weather conditions then you are going to make close friends with a tree.

Hi I drove to south Germany 2 winters ago in 20cm of settled snow for 400 miles no problem in snow mode, I have even been up ice slopes from a standing start, The snow mode isn't a gimmick it really works well.

I switched to Mud & Snow tyres (Vredstein to be exact; first rear set lasted for over 25000miles) and did not need anything else. Before that, with Pirelli summer tyres and snow mode, even a little bit of snow was like ice! Do remember that all that the snow mode does is to shift in to a higher gear sooner so as to keep the revs low, etc. Haven't tried the socks but have used chains and they are a real pain.
