Rx 300 Abs Sensor Rotor Loose On Driveshaft

Recommended Posts

I have a Swedish RX 300 AWD , 2002 model with approx 130000 km driven and a now got a big problem with a broken and loose ABS rotor on rear driveshaft back.

Make ABS function out of order !

According to my local Lexus workshop I need to change the hole driveshaft , its not possible to replace/fix the loose sensor ring !

Cost a fortune on such an old car , I hope to find someone who have made some cheaper solution.

Not easy to buy used parts either as Lexus has made changes on the driveshaft several times acc to workshop

Some ideas what to do ?

Regards

Lars-Erik

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

Having looked at the exploded diagram for your model the ABS toothed reluctor ring does not appear to be mounted on the drive shaft.

They are normally part of the hub assembly.

What normally happens is the toothed wheel cracks and then becomes loose, some companies are now able to fit a new toothed wheel but unsure if there is that option for a Lexus.

Apart from finding a complete hub in a breakers yard or finding one somewhere like eBay it would have to be a dealer for the new part but as you say the cost would not be practical on an older RX.

Thx Steve

Agree of position of toothed wheel , I have problem to describe it for for breakers also best with a pic.

I Cant understand why it should be impossible to put a new "cheap" wheel on even if the factory better sell a new complete unit for something like 600-800 £ here in Sweden

Mine has craked due to rustning in my view a bad "cheap construction" from beginning

How to find a new wheel is that possible to Lexus ?

/Lars

Have a read of the link below, the toothed wheel is on the drive shaft by the way.

Not only that but you can buy the toothed wheel as a separate part at least from a UK supplier ( no customs problems as we are both EU countries) or maybe even locally in Sweden.
