only me in the dealers and i had been there for some time and needed the toilet, just drying my hands out of sight and not saying when or where but overheard a service manager tell a mechanic to "get the donor car over to the garage and strip it".......the donor car was a very sorry looking GS parked outside i passed on my way in.

i am not making 2+2=5 just made me think.

i know it was a mechanic as they where stepping away from each other as i came out of the toilet, they both just slipped away not really noticing me, i watched the mechanic drive it over to the garage.

it could be a training car for apprentices to work on, it could be someones personal project at the dealers, or it could be a Donor car for ???????.

Sounds to me like they have a donor car and replace parts on their second hand Gs's to get them up to scratch.

Lets not forget a couple of things.

Main dealers are businesses.

They're still ordinary mechanics who can do what they want within reason. They will happily fit a second hand part or a non oem part ( again within reason.)

Naughty and possibly dangerous, IF they are fixing a customers car with second hand parts without the customers knowledge and charging for new. Emphasis on the IF.

Trading standards could take a car of same model in on the sly to check if they were made aware.

Likely they are taking second hand cars, fixing them up to scratch and then putting them up for sale.

That's ok though.

None of the above explains the term 'donor car' In my view the term can only mean they are taking parts off it to fit to another vehicle which if correct & the customer is not being told is not only wrong its illegal

As ipwm said in all probability its just mechanics doing what mechanics do and has nothing to do with customer cars. Can you imagine the damage that would cause Lexus if the press found out something naughty was going on?

Are you sure these Beef Burgers are not past their sell by date darling they really taste strange. Mike

Haha ..... So many people didn't get that when I sent it as a text the other day. I'm beginning to wonder how many of my friends actually watch the news!

Still, as long as I don't receive a death threat via a tescos burger on the pillow next to me in the morning.......... (horse burgers available at other leading supermarkets)

I might just avoid burgers altogether as I don't want the trots !

I'm here all week folks!!!!
