SRT offers an induction kit with race ECU upgrade but dont have one at the mo..decided to stick with high flow panel filters instead as i prefered the queitness but the Apexi i have changes the engine note once i hit 3000rpm.

SRT cliams a 20 - 22hp gain with the ecu upgrade aswell

http://swiftracing.c.../item.aspx?id=2

other guys in US are using the Joe Z tube which has been claimed to officially give 7 bhp more to the rear wheels.

was tempted to get this tube to accompany my Apexi filter but thought will i really notice 7bhp gain on the road?? so SRT is worth looking if you decide on induction kit.

hmm, that srt kit sounds good, but 10% extra power from an NA with just that modification? Is it realistic?

Has anyone used that kit?

Also, when i had the NA supra, 2jzge, they are quoted as 220-225 bhp, this will of course be becasue of the higher ron fuel in Japan. Do our ecu's detect this if we were to use 99 ron fuel and thus advance the ignition timing?

am guessing the ecu which comes with it might advance the fuel mixture due to more air coming in via the induction kit resulting in the 10% increase but you wont know until you have your car dyno'ed before installation and after installation. I am currenlty running 99 ron and to me it feels like 225 or more bhp to be honest. a BMW/VAG Tuning company near where i live does dyno runs so might stick it on the dyno for the hell of it and see what figures i get from my stock engine with the Apexi and V power so watch this space :glare:

Btw when u say apexi you have changes the engine note, do u mean cone filter but now u have gone back to panel? Have u got photos of your cone setup ? Was it as easy as remove air box then attach cone with samco connection piece? cheers

sorry mate! i meant the Apexi panel filter.. this is a dry cotton style filter which makes the engine sound a bit more throatier than the stock Toyota/Lexus filter.. the sound is note like a full blown cone induction sound, but its better than the stock filter.. induction kit will give a more sportier sound for sure tho... have you now decided which one to go for ??

Just incase you was wondering the one i have

Well a k and n typhoon or the likes would be nice, but at 200 ish, i then think could i fit this to the original intake even if it takes a bit of cutting

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apexi-Universal-Power-Intake-Air-Filter-75mm-Dual-Funnel-Adapter-/300792859588

Is this viable?

Also that srt computer thing, looks on the net to be a bit like an apexi safc , anyone fitted one of these? I've never really looked into tuning the few na cars I've had, but if i could get this car to 240 ish bhp that'd be nice!

Also, are all our 300's lsd ?

not sure if fitting just the cone to the existing OE intake tube would work as you wont have anywhere to house your MAF sensor once the airbox comes of cus the MAF sensor hole is linked to the rear part of the airbox. as you know the air box has two parts. the front part and rear part so if you can find a way of housing the MAF sensor then you can use the OE intake tube but it might not work cus the intake tube is quiet short in length and what you want is to have the cone as far away from the engine as possible so as to not soak heat..but if you can get hold of a longer intake tube and drill a hole to accomodate the MAF sensor then you are a winner :) .

regarding lsd's i think all IS300's sold here in UK have one.

How's this for cheap and cheerful?

Even if the filters crap put an apexi on it :)

Thats a steal right there craiglancs.. intake tube is Aluminium and comes already bored with hole to house the MAF sensor so all you need is a better cone to go with it... AEM, Blitz, Apexi, K&N all do the job well but lean towards dry type filters to save your MAF in the long run... and get a heat sheild aswell to protect the cone and if you lucky 5-10 horses could be extracted from the engine. dont forget to do an ECU reset... :)

I have one fitted, can't say ive noticed any extra power! Only reason i bought it was the million mile guarantee, so no more filter changes. wash and re-oil...good as new again.

Anyone bought the k&n panel filter? Better or worse than the apex does anyone know?

I believe IS200's dont have MAF sensors so K&N will be ok..I stayed away from the oiled filters due to the possibilty of oil coating the MAF sensor causing it to mulfunction in the long run. both brands are established well known brands in motorsports K&N american, Apex'i Japanese tuner..so both companies have the know how to make a good air filter.. depending on engine health and engine type, one can extract 5-10bhp from an NA engine and 10-20bhp from a Turbo engine from a performance filter with other modifications to accompany of course.

Hello all, I'm new at the lexus owner club. I'm just wondering if anyone is getting rid of / selling the stock under bonnet air scoop on the IS300(don't know what it's called exactly sorry), it links to the air inlet. It's like a plastic duct with a 90 degree turn, shows it in this pic - http://i929.photobucket.com/albums/ad140/nickat916/0112_08zoom2002_Lexus_IS_300Full_Engine_Bay_View_zps3596e7a5.jpg

I live in the UK so if someone's able to do this for me I'd pay for the postage if it's not too expensive.

And is there other bits of the site that I could ask people about this please?
