Front Rear Tyres Is220D Se-L

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

My lexus is 220d se-l is fitted with the following tyres:

front 225 45 r17

rear 245 45 r 17

i have been enquiring for new tyres (winter)

a local company suggets i replace rears with 2225 instead of 245 as both front and rear wheels ar 8J17.

I am not technical, mechanical when it comes to cars. Would it be ok to replace tyres with 225 45 r 17 throughtout?

Any thoughts

As always Thanks in advance

Kully

I'm not sure how you would be covered with your insurer if you fitted non-standard sizes? Unless you ask them? The only time you would find out would be during a claim which isn't a nice place to be. Personally I'd stick to the recommended sizes as Lexus intended.

I have used winter tyres for the past 2 years, I have 225/45/17 on both from and rears, the alloy wheel size on front and back are the same so its okay to fit 225's all round. The 225 tyres are also better in snow than 245's, the thinner the better for snow. I bought my tyres from Mytyres.co.uk.
