Evening all,

I have been gifted a gen 1 LS400 - hurray!, insurance seems steep when doing a quick check through confused (I'm not expecting the cheapest from there though).

I notice Flux are linked through here, so will give them a call. Any other specialists/general insurers I should try?

Thanks,

I found that if you stay with a company, they do seem to put the price up apparently its a way of recouping any discounts they offered for the previous policy. I paid more and went through Adrian Flux because the policy they found appeared to be more comprehensive than the one with swiftcover, but that was my choice.

With my corsa, last year my policy renewal went from £253.56 - £472.11. No change in circumstances, I've got 12 years no claims and no one from axa could tell me, to my satisfaction, why the renewal price was so much. At one point they told me the car was too old and they consider it a higher risk. It was a 2000 w reg. 1.0 litre. And the area I live in and my no claims should suggest a cheap policy.

In many cases they will gladly increase the cost of a policy with certain people, because they know they'll pay for it. More and more people are chosing not to have insurance and I DO NOT CONDONE THIS! But I'm starting to see why some people are considering it.

ALWAYS try your existing insurer first and get on to their retentions dept., also, if they have any offers for new customers bring it up and you will often get the offer.

Churchill increase my renewal quote every year but I normally check round (NOT via comparison sites) anyway. Each year I phone Churchill and press the number for not renewing and get put onto retentions. In October retentions shaved a lot off my quote and it came out at around £300 but when I also told them I was moving from Coventry to the Lincolnshire coast it came down to about £175 Fully Comp for my GS430!!!!!! Admittedly there is a £350 excess.

I have been gifted a J reg Metro, a K reg Kia Pride and a W reg Corsa, but no LS400 . . . .

Not complaining. . . Much. Lol.

Follow dave1's advice, always talk to your current insurer first, this method has often paid off for me, except for this years renewal, but then I was using a dual car policy for the first time.

I moved my business to LV and got a great premium.

Speak to your current insurers, if they have a online system to do a quote do that, then ring up with that quote.

I that and saved £300 bearing in mind I am 23 and drive a LS400

Update for you, current insurer were a no-no (specialist insurer for something completely different).

Flux have quoted the best at ~£800, interestingly they were very keen to ask if it was what I was expecting/acceptable, as though there was wriggle room.

Anyone had this before?

They said the same with me. The quote was referred to the manager as I was a Gold Member here, but they said they were u able to reduce. I was very happy with the price anyway.
