Whats the difference between the 1992 ES300 and the 1992 Windom? Why did they bring out the Windom range if it's the same as the ES300? My flat mate and me are having heated discussion's over this topic but neither really know much about it. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Hi,

There are very subtle differences between the es300 and the windom.

The windom was made the the japanese market and the ES was made for the US and a few other other countries.

Now these are are identical.. same engine and chassis.. however with the windom it usually comes fully loaded compared to the ES.

The only reason the Japanese have Windom instaed of ES300 is because they do not sell Lexus in Japan and all lexi are known as Toyotas. They sell Lexus to other countries.

I am sure yu catch my drift:saint:

If you have any other questions then please let me know

Hi, thanks for your reply. Exactly what are the subtle differences between the two? I did some searching on the net and found that they both where manufactured at the same plant in Japan at the same time, does this mean they are exactly the same car nut for bolt? A friend said there could be differences under the hood!? I am about to buy a 92' Windom 3G same colour as yours. Thanks again.

Hi Joe,

They are exactly the same.. but the windom comes with more goodies.... like air purifier and part active suspension.

I have compared mine to the ES for goodies and the windom comes with loads more things. The engine is the same... The windom is a great car and is quite powerfull too...

Please feel free to ask any questions... when are you buying?

where about are you.. are you in the UK?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm buying it in the next couple of weeks for around $5000-$6000 NZ$ New Zealand dollars ( Around 2000 Squid in your country ) They aren't that expensive over here. We have heaps of Windoms over here but not so many Lexus ES300's and theres about a $5000-$8000 dollar difference between the two thats why i thought there must be some major difference between them. One thing i have noticed is that not many of the Windoms and ES300's over here have all the extra's like CD stacker, electric seats, moon roof and leather trim which is why i'm very happy with the one i found with these extra's for a low price. Only problem is it's done nearly 200,000 Kms!!!! How many Km's are those V6 Engines good for? Do you know of any common problems with this car i should be aware of before buying? Cheers.....Joe

Hi Joe,

Mine has done over 160,000 Kilometers and still runs fine... but i would certainly check the servicing history.

200,000 is reasonable but one of the reasons why we like imprts is because of their low mileage and fully loaded cars.

The is no difference between he es300 and the Windom apart from the extras. The ES wil be worth more because it is badged up as a lexus.. but the etching on the window will still have toyota !

I would buy the windom and rebadge the windom to a lexus... let's face it.. a windom outside japan is in theory a Lexus ES300;)

2000 quid is a good price... mine was 6000 squid 18 months ago
