03' Is200 Jerking

Hi guys,

I have just bought an 03' is200 just over a month ago. The car has ran flawlessly up until a few days ago when i noticed they car had become jerky when being driven, almost like it wasn't getting fuel. The car did however have around half a tank.

Over the next few days I have noticed the car revs funny on idle and splutters, almost like its missing a cylinder or again not getting enough fuel. When driven the car jerks at low rpm however this continues in all gears, not just the low ones.

I have read a few things on the forum threads here however im not entirely sure what is the main cause. I don't want to be wasting money on parts I don't need. Ive read this issue could be anything from plugs/coil packs to gearbox/clutch . I don't think it could be a problem with the clutch as I was told by the previous owner a new one had been fitted and the car serviced before sale.

The car also came from a family friend so although no paper work supports this I am in no doubt the work has taken place.

I did read that the IS should have been serviced with iridium plugs and I am still waiting to hear back on whether this has been done.

The car has covered around 100643 miles if this helps ?

It annoys me as this car has ran silky smooth up to this point and I feel its getting worse, any help or input on this matter is greatly appreciated !

Thanks

Glen

Do you have any warning lights on the dash?

Might be worth plugging into a diagnostic.

Sounds like a mis fire but that would show on the dash with the check engine light on. Could be the plugs too. It must have irridium plugs. Finally check that the check engine bulb hasn't been taken out of the dash or has gone as if its running that rough im surprised some sort of fault code hadsn't been thrown up.

Hi mate thanks for the reply.

Tbh ive been in holland since friday and this carry on only started the day before I left. I went to see a guy tonight but he isnt sure if his diagnostic reader is set up for lexus but im to call back tomorrow. There were no lights on the dash however on the way up this evening the emu light has came on for the first time so I should know for def tomorrow what it is.

Its lookin likely the coil packs are at fault. I also spoke with the guy who I bought the car off, he mentioned the plugs where denso an cost £70 +VAT so they must be the iridium ones.

If it is coil pack is there anywhere I can get decent OE spec set of 6 online for fair enough money ?

Cheers
