Engine Bay Cleaning

going to give the engine bay a good detail this weekend, bought degreaser, brushes, dressing etc but a bit concerned about rinsing - is there anything in particular i should cover before hosing down ?

don't want to short anything out so any tips would be appreciated !

Only thing i cover when i do my is200 is the alternator and Battery. Also i leave engine running don't know whether others agree but never had anything go wrong.

If engine starts to struggle while rinsing a particular area just stop....LOL. Being doing it that way for all my cars.

I decided not to put water anywhere near mine in the end, just got in there with a rag and then a bit of trim polish and its come up ok with half an hours effort.

what do you use on plastics? Trim gel?

hello you can try Autoglym vinyl and rubber care,find it really good,hope this helps

No it's some special stuff a mate gets me used on commercial airliner seats, it comes in a 1ltr bottle and is a thick white gloopy liquid,lasts for years.

Autoglym bumper care is great for plastics. Use it on mine.

I jus thought some stuff called 303 aerospace protector, yet to try it though. I will try to do I some before and after pics.
