Which Fuel For Isf

Recommended Posts

Very well said and I generally agree, for me just my choice and 5p a litre more isn't a lot really, don't overly do many miles and occasionally put in a bottle redex when it's on offer lol [emoji16]
The best extra additive I've found and is well respected in the motoring industry is miller's.

Try a bottle of miller's power eco. A bottle does 10 tanks. And you will notice the difference nigh on immediately once it's made its way thru the fuel system.

It bloody stinks tho so don't get it on your hands and bag the bottle.

Actually they don't, Shell V Power fuels comes from a separate refinery.

This is a contentious issue where there are as many pro as against. Ultimately it's your money and you're at liberty to spend it how you wish

so you think shell sends tankers from that refinery 100s and 100s of miles to a service station near you????  believe what you want.....I have filled the tankers.......

You may have filled the tankers but there is only one refinery that produces high octane fuel and that is Stanlow by all accounts.

I personally use the higher octane fuels, normally BP as it’s the closest to me as well as collecting nectar points (the wife)....I’ve found it smoother on acceleration and slightly better on mpg, I use the same in my bike, the wife hybrid gets the standard fuel and the daily gets supermarket (better) fuel as cost is the same as standard big brands 95 cost.....I will look into the millers addative as everything helps......can’t say I know the science behind any of it......just a personal preference 🤷🏼‍♂️

Personally I notice no difference in the drive of the car and the MPG is pretty much identical with premium fuels, I don't believe the ECU is these cars adapts to the fuel like in some?

I do put tesco momentum in though for the cleaning additives and since I do so little mileage the cost difference is negligible, if I did more miles I am not sure I would.

sorry but that is just not true    most modern refineries can product high octane fuels...

Ethanol is an octane booster so it's not difficult. BP ultimate doesn't use ethanol so is for me the best fuel, currently.

Everyone to their own I suppose,I  use momentum 99 in my 250 and don't consider an extra 5p a litre a waste of money others might think different lol 😁

I use Premium 95RON fuel as that's what the manual says the car is designed for, anything more would be wasted money.  Obviously MPG would be better when using an ethanol free super grade fuel however the increased cost of the fuel eclipses the minute saving in MPG.

Many modern engines can self adjust to make best use, or safest in the case of lower grade fuel.

It's worth noting that unlike in the rest of the EU and over in north America, you can't actually buy low grade fuel in the UK, petrol stations here are prohibited from selling regular unleaded as it doesn't meet British Standards for unleaded fuel.  Our options are either Premium unleaded (95RON), Super unleaded (97/98RON) or specialist fuels that meet/exceed either of those standards (I.E Vpower, Momentum, etc).

The GSF UK manual says 98 RON. From what I recall the ISF UK manual states 95, however it has been a while since I last owned an ISF so check it out.

As for some of the mixed comments and opinions on whether you need the higher performance fuel or not, well, that is your choice and for you to make a decision on if your car needs it, however as what is usually the case with most things in life, "you get what you pay for".
