Hey!

Long story short I recently went to the local garage to have my brakes checked due to excessive brake squeak, I was told the discs are below 30mm (27.9mm they were at) which apparently is bad and was also the cause to the unbearable squeak that keeps occurring.

So I need some new discs and pads, got a quote and it looked a little high (I'd been doing some research for my IS before hand). I was quoted £70 per front disc, bare in mind they're Flat brembo Ventilated 296mm discs, but on eBay for both front left & right they're only £100 for the two:

So is worth my time getting some of these, for an additional £20 or so!

Would just like to know peoples thoughts! and advice..

P.S. I have brembo pads & calipers, so would I be needing a new set of these (I was advised to)

one word.. its brembo. so will be good for sure. I looked at them a while back aswell and will def opt of them when am due new pads and discs. but saying that, the Pagid brake discs and pads I got from Eurocar parts are doing a good job in stopping the car effectively. I don't use it for tracks but how long they will last I don't know but if you have funds for Brembos then by all means but worth double checking to make sure they are genuine brembos tho.

I fitted a pair of http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180464646215&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:1123'>THESE two years ago and they've been spot-on. No cracks, warping, squealing or anything else that is often associated with having grooved & drilled discs. A bargain at nearly half the price of those brembo ones.

I have blank Brembos on the rear and they've been fine. The bell on both discs were orange with rust within weeks though so I doubt that Brembo's OEM-spec stuff is of any higher quality than any other reputable brand out there.

One small thing i notice when changing disc on the IS the Toyota/Lexus originals are painted black in the centre where they sit hub assembly. it obviously doesn't effect performance just looks better. and provides a better finish for longer as it will not show up the inevitable corrosion and brake dust build up.
