Snapped Belt

I have just brought a X plate IS200 with a snapped cam belt.

The last owner repaired this himself but now shows symptoms of bent valves.

I got this car for £200 and it is in mint condition!

This kind of repair is something I have not done before, although im quite handy with a spanner.

Anything I should be looking out for when rebuilding?

Cheers in advance.

Welcome to the LOC.

Sounds like a project you have there.

I would first remove the cylinder head and check the piston tops for damage, why the previous owner thought simply replacing the cam belt would sort the problem I don't know with an interference engine.

If the pistons are OK I would be looking for a decent secondhand cylinder head rather than try and repair the original or even better replace the complete engine.

With what you paid for the car if you spend another £500.00 on an engine you'll still be in front.
