12V Aux Socket Fuse

Recommended Posts

Hi all

My father has a 2009 RX400h.

My mother recently plugged her phone charger into the dashboard 12v socket and it didn't work, my fathers had a look and has also discovered the 12v socket in the boot isn't working.

He's had a good look round for the fuse but can't find any that are blown, he's gone through 4 seperate fuse boxes.

He lives 250 miles round trip from me so its not something I can go and look at straight away and having done a google search I can't find any info on this.

So, where should he be looking??

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Wayne

It maybe that the sockets are only live with the key in the ignition/accessory position. Not sure about the Lexus but this was the case with my Grand Cherokee..

If you Father has the owner's handbook the fuses are normally detailed in this, the cigar lighter fuse is usually marked as "CIG".

Alternatively they should be listed on the underneath of the fuse box covers.

The fuse box for this one is located below the glove box. It is quite difficult to access, lie on your back, remove trim below the glove box to reveal the fuse box which is about 6"x3". Sorry but I cannot remember which fuse feeds the 12v sockets.

Have fun!

I also have a 2009 RX400h.

Are you parents' phones iPhones?

The reason I am asking is that both sockets in my car will charge any device... with the exception of iPhones/iPods.

I have not done anything about it because I have an Android phone, but one of my sons pointed this out when he could not charge his iPod.

Incidentally, and with your problem in mind, is it reasonable to assume that both sockets run off the same fuse? - If not, it would be unlikely that both would have failed...
