What Is This Antenna?

Can someone tell me what this antenna is for and should it be hanging out of the front passenger pillar....

It's been driving me nuts for a few months now...

Its interesting that you mention that....

I have what appears to be a phone cradle inside the central storage box.

Its screwed down which is why i've never bothered to remove it but at the same time it's pointless as it won't hold a phone either.

Could it be linked to the follow...

Its a mobile phone antenna that connects into the phone cradle - i had one the same in an old car - it boosts (or supposed to) the signal for a phone in the cradle and its usually stuck to the window with adhesive tape
