Turn On Fogs When Unlocking

As the topic title suggests...

I want to have my fog lights turn on when i unlock the car, i have the standard lexus immobiliser and dont really want to interfere with it

but was thinking is there away to connect the fogs to either the igntion ring light or somthing similar that turns on when unlocking.

first thought the dome lights but every time the doors open the fogs will turn on.. not smart

any ideas guys

This feature is common across many car makes, some you can turn them on with the fob too. its to light your drive way up when your walking up to your car. was on american cars alot originally but now pretty standard

It just seems like a cool feature to have like auto close mirrors when locking...

i wouldnt go as far as this guy...

haha thats cool. I nearly bought one with all that when i was looking. The guy who had it worked for the company who does it. some alarm company cant mem now

Why not just add puddle lights would be far easier to do I'm a novice with wiring but done completely myself

auto front fogs with doors unlocked would be nice but I wouldn't mess about with it.

its possible by wiring them up with the central locking motor unit, which powers on until doors open up then powers off so the fogs will come on and switch off.

but a lot can go wrong in the process as lexus have many electronics - you need a top auto electrician to guide you on this

It's a cool mod if you can do it, as petayV8 says most modern cars have this feature, in fact my mates 04 plate C Class has it where side lights and front fogs turn on when you unlock with the fob. VW, Audi, Rangers etc also use their fogs as cornering light, so they come on whenever you turn left or right.

When you unlock the car I'm pretty sure the interior light lights up, you could,tap off this to the fog relay to light them up, needs a diode in or your interior light will light when the fogs are on.

But they'll come on when ever the interior light comes on that way so may not be perfect

Corning lights have been around since the early 60s in America, seems we've only now just caught on in europe lol

Also light delay switches have been fitted to since 60s to cadillacs etc too to keep lights on after parking although OP wants opposite effect this may be a easier alternative. Also was auto dimming and auto lights not related i know but cool then
