Chose a reputable licenced company and make sure they remove the old gas,purge the system,check for leaks and if all is OK refill with the correct amount of fresh refridgerent/pag oil.

Most of the modern AC machines are fully automated so will do the complete process without much human input.

On a side note there is now a new more environmentally version of the R134 gas presently being tested by Mercedes. The only downside is only one company Teflon Dupont manufacture the gas at present and it costs around £900.00 a Kilogram!

If you've a Lexus dealer nearby check out their offers. I had mine (MkIV) cleaned and re-gassed for £60 at Lexus Battersea, you just have to politely decline their follow up service offers... Only done as car is new to me and been smoked in, and seemed like too good an offer to refuse

Yes, I had mine done last Tuesday. The procedure is exactly as Steve described it. Cost: £59.99 including VAT.
