My Is200 - Respray Done!

Recommended Posts

Yeah my uncle has one and it is indeed a nice car to drive. I was just surprised at how much bigger it is to an IS200! :P

I agree - the Kia is very underrated and is an awesome car to drive. The funny thing is, its a 2.0 16V pushing out 115KW (similar to the Lexus), but its a lot quicker off the mark than the IS200. Unbelievably quicker to be honest! Also, I think the pic is a bit deceiving ......the Cerato not THAT much bigger than the IS200.......a bit broader, but thats about it. I think the Lexus looks a lot smaller because its lowered and my Cerato is not. Lowering a car does tend to make it look a big smaller I think......

Adam - thanks for the compliment man. Appreciate it.

Admittedly, its a bit dirty at the moment. I was really sick last weekend, so washing it then was a bad idea. I'll clean it up nicely this weekend.

Took a pic this afternoon, the sparkles in the paint was looking really good in the sun, but my camera phone didnt pick them up :-( Thought I would share anyway

Was stopped today in traffic and asked if I would like to sell - thats not going to happen. Not after the time and effort I have put into this car!

Wow! Thanks for the huge compliments Pete. I really meant it when I say it means a lot to me.

I dont have many plans for the car, but plan on doing the following when my wallet recovers from the mechanical and cosmetic stuff I have sorted out :

1) 35% Anti-Smash & Grab tint
2) Full interior valet
3) Headlight Restoration
4) Double-din touch screen Head Unit

I have a set of SPL Dynamics splits which I want to fit for the front stage, a pair of 6X9's on the rear parcel shelf for rear fill and a 4-channel amp. I have the audio stuff, I just need to install it all. I also have a 12" sub and a monoblock, but I'm not sure if I want heavy bass in this car. So probably won't install the sub.

I also love the Lexus IS200 in its original form. All it needs is a drop and, if its in been cared for, then it looks good. So, no crazy mods planned. I would love to keep the original headunit as I believe it looks really neat, but the head unit is seriously lacking in functionality (Bluetooth, Ipod, USB etc, etc)

So far I have done :

- Major service at Lexus (Including a cambelt change)
- Ferodo Platinum brakes
- KYB shocks (I believe these are OEM?)
- H&R 35mm Springs

- 225/45/17 Michelin Rubber
- Custom pearl white respray
- Wheel refurbish

Here's a quick pic I took this afternoon of the front....you guys need to tell me when I am annoying you with the pics!

She needs a good wash......

Thought I would try my hand at cleaning the interior - Used some "Wynns Brush Off" foam - seems to have worked a bit

Did the door-pads as well

Then I thought I would tackle the engine bay

Had some overspray (urgh!) on the windscreen .......some clay and detailing spray sorted that out. The clay really worked a treat!

Thought I would try the clay on the headlights as well.......didnt work as well as the windscreen, but they sure feel smoother!

post-46625-0-53774600-1373811471_thumb.j

Used some "Rim Wax" on the rims.....
