Abs Delete And Other Brake Questions.

Hi guys.

I'd like to know if there is a way to also stop the ABS working permenantly and easily. IE is there a fuse I can pull that wont cause me running issues?

Thats the short term solution... but

To continue the ABS theme... Can someone confirm for me that the ABS relay unit thing (the box with the lines coming out of it) is also the bias box for the front/rear brake bias. I would in the near future like to remove ABS compleatly. However I need to know if I'm going to have to run some sort of bias valve (or can I just run the 2 lines from the BMC to T pices - one for the front brakes and 1 for the back?)

I dont want to bugger up the brake bias but I do need to junk the ABS asap. On my skylines and S bodys in the past I've just fit a BMC from a non ABS model nissan... is this an option with the IS?

The ABS unit controls the bias, all the brake lines originate there. There is an ABS/TRC relay in the engine fuse box, you could try pulling that. The main ECU for the ABS/TRC is under the steering wheel.

When the ABS and TRC is disabled the ABS light will come on and the TRC OFF light will flash.

Why do you want to get rid of the ABS? Are you building a race car?

Because I hate it. Yes it allows you to steer during a braking phaze but it also increases stopping distance, it's heavy, it screws up my rythm and it's a "nanny device" - I can't stand them and never have, it's the first thing I bin on anycar i buy which has it :)

No not a race car. It's my daily drive until my R32 is finished and back on the road. It'll do 1 maybe 2 drift days and I practice allot. My street car is my drift car :) so apart from my hatred of ABS I also need rid of it for control reasons/fitting a hydro (possibly, I'll see how the stock wand holes up)

Thanks lance, I had a bad feeling that would be the case. I'll see how well the OEM handbrake holds up. With any luck it'll be ok (has been so far) if not ill have to bite the bullet and buy a bias valve :(

thanks for info on the TRC relay. I'll pull that tomorrow :D
