My Sat Nav

I bought a full set of new updated Europe Sat Nav discs from the Lexusmapupdate site. it was about £120 I think. It updated the maps fine but the Sat Nav is dire.

Its well dated and unfortunately I don't know how it can be improved without buying another car.

It doesn't use full post codes and the silly woman insists on trying to get you onto a chosen route even though it would take you miles extra to get back to it.

The screen has low resolution and the controls over complicated.

Its easily beaten by a modern £70 plug in Sat Nav from Navman or TomTom. Sad but true.

Oh really !! Is your 05 SC using the same version of Mine too?? I thought it will be at least another version by then, hmmm.... I defo know what you mean, as I bought this car miles away from London and I just too innocent to relies on the Sat Nav to bring me back home, however, no success plus a bit got lost. Then I was using my Iphone to guide me until I get back to main motorway .... It was bit scary as its getting dark plus my phone Battery dieing too

Having say that, I'm still insist to have a disc change, if there is still not much improve, worse come to worse eBay it, I mean the disc, not SC, do you ever drive 06 up SC, people said its much better? If you do please let's me know whether is true or not!

Anyway nice to meet you :)

My SC is a November 55 plate and its the upgraded 6 speed version with the latest suspension and gearbox. I understand mine is the 2006 model so I think the sat nav is the same as all of them it certainly isn't to good by todays standards.. Also I can operate ( change destinations etc) the sat nav while on the move etc and I understand that's not possible with pre 05 units that have not been upgraded. However don't get me wrong I love the car the 6 speed auto is unbelievably good. Mines black with ivory leather..

Should be much better for handing right, I found this car a bit stuggle!

Tbh I love it comfy speeds reliable and Luxy all in one, specially when getting old, comfy is first priority :P will only change this one until the WHITE one come up, with better age, at least 06 models otherwise there is no big deal right :)

Got my updated discs sent though, I'm quite excited but I just been told there is still the same version of the others member who already had that updated, so that mean just bare of mind, the latest version is up to 2010, and cost you about £130 for all, is that worth it or not, is up to you.

For myself I know this sat nav may be not the best one in the market, but I just like it as is it, I will take her best and also the worst, so far I think this car is nothing I have any complains except heeehehe Sat Nav, never mine I will get used to it the way she is :)

Just did a run for Yorkshire to LHR and back after a trip to Thailand... I know my way to LHR very well by now but used the sat nav just in case of detours etc. It did give me options to avoid hold ups twice but I ignored them as I was listening to traffic updates (on the Radio) and it informed me these issues were just about solved. The SC was a joy to drive listening to the best sound system ever (as far as I am concerned) fast enough to leave most things behind and it give me 29.3 mpg for the return journey of 470 miles total in perfect comfort. Most of the time on the motorways etc I was doing well over the legal limit (like nearly everyone else, what is wrong with our roads that the limits are so low. . ...Its like watching paint dry)

Great car so I can put up with the sat nav being less than perfect.

That's how I think as well, I enjoyed every single time while I'm driving her, no matter the sat Nav wasn't too comparative to others latest probable one, and I'm sure I can put up with it too :)

Haven't done any long journey yet, would love to!! At the moment mine doing the running town for every day basic and I'm done about 240-260 mpg so its not too bad, as my previous car twin entry turbo drink like a water too, if there is two cars for me to pick again, no doubt SC is my favours one now, nothing but just love it

Bought my alloys wheel for her 8J for front 9J for rear should be looks much better! Can't wait to show you guys :)

Trying to update my SatNav on a 2002 SC430. Can't seem to get the old DVD out of the machine in the boot. Anyone got any ideas? Can't find any instructions in the book.

Cheers.

Hi

Mine is 01 so shouldn't be that big different, for me to take it out from the boot wasn't too hard, just few click from where you can see the label tag, after you removed the tag then you can manage to find the box hiding there, and just click the far left button to open the window and disc will come out automatically, hope that's help you thou :)
