Why No Led Headlights In The Uk

Recommended Posts

This safety pack was a late addition after a number of people complained of the lack of these safety options in the UK on the lexus blog. I am waiting for my IS300h because I wanted the option so delayed my order by a month, but also waiting for the 63 plate, just got the reg number today :)

Yes, that late option came about because someone had the sense to ask for it on the Lexus UK blog!

Do you get a choice from a few plates over in GB, or are you just allocated one? Can you choose any region or do you have to take where you are (eg L-London, S-Scotland or whatever)?

The dealers normally let you choose from a list of plates they have but you cannot normally transfer these off the car if you like them anyway. I will have a private plate on mine... I am only waiting for the new plate as it may give the car a slightly better resale value.

Well I placed my order in May without seeing the car which was a risk. I did have a test drive and liked it enough to proceed with the order. I had complained on the lexus blog and emailed them because the safety features weren't being offered in the uk. Thankfully they came back a few days later and offered it at a good price, but it has delayed my order a bit, but think its worth the wait.

I didn't get a choice with the reg plate but not something that bothers me, I think the first two letters relate to the area the car is registered :)

Ah that was you, was it?!

Must say I was very impressed both by the request and by Lexus UK's instant affirmative response.

The blog is very good. Same can't be said for the website, which is still seriously short on information.

I did a major complaint on the Lexus blog, and emailing Lexus UK about the lack of the safety pack, resulting in the UK product manager calling to inform me that it would be available. I had to reorder, but it is worth the wait.

I think I was one of several people who complained, but give Lexus credit where it's due, they managed to sort things out quite quickly, seems like everyone who complained got a call from the UK product manager. :shifty:

I agree with the website and the brochures, but I am sure they'll sort them out in due course.

A big thank you to all who complained via email or blog to Lexus, and thanks to Lexus UK for sorting it out and giving their customers what they want.

Having checked out a few of the US forums the consensus seems to be that the HID's work better but the LED's look cooler... I supose from a safety point of view what works best is what to have! :)
