Good afternoon chaps,

I am the very happy owner of a recently purchased 1996 LS400.

I am unsure as to either upgrade to larger replacement alloys or refurb original alloys and fit some lower/wider profiles on them. What would fit please ?

Does any one have a set of wheels & tyres available ?

Cheers

Ade

Hi Adrian, congratulations on your recent purchase. I recently bought a set of wheels from another member but couldn't quite decide on whether I liked them enough to keep them. What really helped me to come to a decision was the change in the ride that I couldn't get used to. With lower profile tyres the ride was just a bit too hard, and an LS400 isn't built to have a hard ride. Anyway, I had the originals refurbed and it was like getting an old friend back! Hope you make the right choice, but for me, if I changed the wheels again I'd get the same size as the originals with the same tyres.

Hi Adrian

The car was designed to run on 225/60/16 tyres and the speedometer and odometer were calibrated accordingly. Why would you still want to go for 225/55/16 tyres? The casual observer would not be able to tell the difference, but your feedback on the instruments would be compromised. I'd be very interested in your views.

Thanks for the info, agree about keeping the originals if at all possible.........but you got a bargain with a set of tyres for £250..........

But I hope you meant 16" or you might have a devil of a job keeping the pressures up :D
