Lexus Rx400H Recall

Recommended Posts

Just had my inital leter today (22/10/13) from Lexus/vosa about inverter issue, they have said I do not need to take any action now and they will contact me again when the vehicle can be taken in for the necessary repairs.

ok what are the repairs and what could happen to the vehicle should this inverter issue become an inverter event.

FYI she's a 2009 RX400h special edition (so must be one the last 400h's)

Thanks Worried of Wirral :eerrrmm:

Hi Stevie C-D

Mine is also a 2009 RX400h ... again one of the last produced ... and mine has been called forward for the inverter change. I would guess that there is not much mechanical difference between your Special Edition and my Limited Edition so I can't understand why you should be on a wait list as opposed to being booked in.

I'd be tempted to call your dealer and ask what is going on .........

Cheers .......... Pete

Been told its something to do with the power to the inverter itself?

To be honest, if you have a letter and you are worried about it go in to your dealer and get them to book it in asap, all dealers can get parts now and should of had training (or at least watched the video!)

Went to Lexus Cheshire Oaks yesterday, nice lady booked the
vehicle in for the second week of December. She said I would have to hang
around an hour while a decision was made on the fault. If one of the faulty
ones it would be a 2 day stay and they would give me a car to cover the period.

Mine is also a 2009 Limited Edition.

Went in for the recall work yesterday. My understanding is that it takes 1 technician around 4 hours to complete the work. Dealer told me that this will keep them busy for the next 3 to 4 months... which also indicates that, whilst this needs to be done, it is not urgent and while the chances of a breakdown exist.... there are relatively small. Of course, the definition of urgent may be different if you are a car dealer or a customer.

In the mean time, I got to drive a IS300h Premier. What a lovely car.

Picked up my car first thing this morning. Valeted. Tin of sweets. With £25 worth of petrol for the inconvenience.

Steve C-D.

Don't understand why you would need to wait one hour for a decision on the fault. Does not make sense. Your dealer should be able to tell you TODAY whether or not your car needs to be recalled. All they need is your registration number. Also don't understand why you were told it would take 2 days.

Took my 120K 55 reg 400h into Lexus Guildford for the inverter work and they gave me a shiny new black Rx450h to use until my one is ready. As usual an order form is in the glove compartment.....

BTW Is there going to be an RX500h coming in the near future?
